Hi Friends!
It’s time to bring these Paleo Turkey Sweet Potato Meatballs back into the spotlight. I originally shared them on the blog four years ago and I’m still enjoying them regularly so I thought I would reshare. Plus a lot of you have been loving the Carrot Pineapple Turkey Meatballs I posted a couple of weeks ago so you’ll probably like these as well. When I made these originally, they quickly become my favorite post-workout snack. Call me weird, but I don’t mind eating meatballs cold and I love how many different flavor combinations you can come up with. They’re so easy to just grab and eat for a quick serving of protein.
Plus these have turkey AND sweet potato which means you get some protein & carbs all in one for post-workout muscle recovery. That’s a win in my book! I spiced these meatballs up with jalapeno but you could easily leave that out if you’re not into spice. I also occasionally add bacon for extra flavor but that’s optional as well.

I love dipping these in bbq sauce but you could also serve them with marinara and your choice of zoodles or noodles. Or toss them over a salad or with a side of roasted veggies. The possibilities are endless. Did I mention with your fingers straight out of the fridge??
Here’s how you make them:

These Paleo Turkey Sweet Potato Meatballs are easy to prep ahead of time and taste good warm or cold. They make a great post-workout snack and can be served with a dipping sauce and side salad for an easy lunch or dinner.
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 25 minutes
- Yield: 16 1x
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 cup cooked, mashed sweet potato
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup almond meal (or breadcrumbs)
- optional mix-ins: diced, cooked bacon and minced jalapenos
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
- Mix well and form into balls (I made about 16).
- Bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes (or until internal temp reaches 165 degrees), flipping once.
Notes
Feel free to cook these in a pan instead of baking them if you want to, or brown on all sides before baking for added flavor.
I originally made these for the paleo crowd so I used almond meal but if you’re not eating paleo, feel free to use breadcrumbs!
Enjoy!

Sweet potatoes + turkey = THE BEST! 🙂 It’s Thanksgiving in June!
I made this. Was absolutely delicious. I had some jasmine rice with them and dipped them in cranberry chipotle BBQ sauce. Yum!
so glad you liked them!
I would definitely make these. I love turkey meatballs and the addition of sweet potatoes is awesome!
Oh yum! I want to eat these right now!!
we’ve been on a make our own meatballs tear here lately too.
but sweet taters?! ID NEVR HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT.
Woah! These sound incredible. My weird kids don’t like meatballs, but maybe with the addition of bacon they’d get on board?! Gotta try it!
sound delicious! I make almost the exact same thing but as patties. 😉
These sound so good! I bet sweet potato tastes so yummy with turkey, just like thanksgiving 🙂

Yum! Another great recipe Lindsay.
Oooo these look amazing! The bf would love these.
Just what I need a new recipe that I can use with turkey meat. I am saving the recipes you send and will open them when I have time right now life is upside down but I love the recipes.
I swore that I would not print any more recipes until I have tried all the ones I already have printed but I’m going to make an exception this time. These look wonderful!!
Look great! Thanks for the recipe. I love sweet potatoes so it’s always fun to try them new ways.
Looks amazing Lindsay!! 🙂
I really liked that you kept these gluten-free – meatballs are one of those randomly gluten-full items!
Would love having these on hand for an easy meal or snack!
These look great and it just so happens that I went to a farm by my house and got sweet potatoes.
Dont tell anyone but I totally love me some meatballs…
Love this recipe, gotta share:) I’ve just added meat back to my diet and turkey is one of my favorites: ) Great recipe!!! You have become quite the talented photographer Lindsay!
Very creative recipe Lindsay. I love the sound of all those ingredients packed into a meatball – yum! Bacon and turkey are a great combo.
Do you have the nutritional infro for these meatballs???

Thank you! Due to dietary restrictions and general family preferences (I have a super picky household, y’all!), I used only the sweet potato, turkey, garlic, (dried minced) onion, and added some salt/pepper. I was worried about omitting so many ingredients, but these were super yummy!! Now I need an excuse to make them for a potluck or something so I can include the jalapeños!
Thank you so much for these simple recipes! I’ve been looking for some meals I can freeze and quickly pull out for my daughter and me; these are perfect!
These meatballs are so good. My family loves them…kids included. They’ve become my “go to” turkey meatball recipe. I’ve made them quite a few times and finally decided I should say thank you for a good recipe. Thank you
I have made a lot of different paleo meatballs and these are definitely my favorite! So delicious!
Do you think I could I use ground beef??
yep!
