This Chocolate Zucchini Bread with Chocolate Chips is the perfect way to use up all of those summer zucchini. Kid-friendly and perfect for breakfast or snack time.
Hi friends!
I’m not sure there’s a vegetable more synonymous with summer for me than zucchini. Every gardener I know has zucchini coming out their ears by the time August rolls around and since it’s so readily available I’m always looking for new ways to use it up!
Here are some of my favorite recipes:
- Lemon Blueberry Zucchini Bread
- Crescent Wrapped Beef Zucchini Meatballs
- Zucchini Carrot Apple Muffins
- Zucchini Oat Bars
You can find all my zucchini recipes here if you need more ideas.
Chocolate Zucchini Bread with Chocolate Chips
One thing that’s missing from my list of zucchini recipes is chocolate! I’ve had a few requests for a recipe that really disguises the zucchini and this is the perfect one.
The dark brown color acts as a great disguise but I also use my food processor to blend the zucchini into even smaller pieces so you can’t even tell that it’s there!
My youngest kiddo calls this brownie bread and he absolutely loves it.
Healthy Chocolate Zucchini Bread Ingredients
You just need a few simple ingredients to make this bread and you probably have most of them on hand already! Here’s what you need:
- Zucchini – shred it and squeeze lightly to remove excess moisture if there is any. You don’t have to squeeze it completely dry
- Eggs and oil – for structure and tenderness
- Sugar and applesauce – for sweetness
- Vanilla – for flavor
- Flour – I use white whole wheat flour but AP is also fine
- Baking soda and salt
- Cocoa powder – for that chocolate flavor!
- Hemp seeds – I add these to most of my baked goods for a nutrient boost but they’re optional

Notes
If you don’t have a food processor you can mix by hand, the zucchini just won’t blend in as well.
