Hi Friends!
Time for another Fitness Friday…and since Crossfit has been consuming my life lately, that means another Crossfit WOD recap!
Let’s jump right in, shall we?
Friday
We worked on handstand pushups. I’m getting better at my handstands! I’m able to do one with my hands closer to the wall than I was before! For the actual WOD, my time was 5:13. Snatches are not my best lift, so I did 45# instead of 65# but this workout was still no joke!
Friday night crossfit has become my new fav 🙂
Saturday
This explains perfectly why I love Crossfit: Every workout is me against myself but I’m surrounded by an awesome group of people pushing me to be better, work harder & get stronger! Saturday morning Crossfit has also become my new fav!
We do team workouts on Saturday mornings so for this workout we were in teams of 8. For part 1, the first time through we each rowed 100m, second and third time through 200 m, fourth time through 400 m, and then a few of us did another 200m or so to get to 8,000m. Then we did a WOD. For this workout you do one deadlift then hop over the bar once, do two deadlifts then jump over the bar twice, etc…as many times as you can in 8 minutes. I did 9 complete rounds plus 5 reps of round 10 with the prescribed weight
Sunday
Rest day.
Monday
We worked on overhead squats and I got up to 70#. For the WOD, I did 50# and did single jumps and it took me 3:00. Overhead squats are tough…my legs are strong but it’s a whole different ballgame when you have to hold the bar overhead.
Tuesday
This one was killer. Seriously. I usually can’t go on Tuesdays because I have class but I ended up getting out early. I had a rough day with a lot of traffic/driving/etc and this workout was exactly what I needed to improve my mood. I did it in 13:25 (RX/singles). Knees to elbow get me every time. Gotta work on those!
Wednesday
We did a partner workout. I partnered up with hubby and this one was actually pretty fun! There were 4 stations. You each do the exercise for one minute and then you add your reps or calories together. You move through all four stations 3 times and then add your total reps together. Hubby and I got 365.5.
Felt a serious burn in the legs with this one! We worked on hang snatches and then did the above workout. My legs were on fire for the second and third round of goblet squats. I finished in 5:17 (Rx). Since this was a short WOD we had time to work on handstands afterwards which was awesome.
Tomorrow is open gym before our WOD and i’ve been looking forward to it ALL week. I’m gonna see how much I can squat since it’s been forever since i’ve done a plain old back squat. Woot! I love squats.
Let’s chat: Do you like lifting weights?! What’s your favorite lift?
Enjoy!

I have a love/hate relationship with lifting weights. I like it, but I always feel so weak at first! lol! I am definitely that person who is terrified to enter a crossfit box. You are such an inspiration!!!
Lindsay says
you should try it! it’s great for so many different fitness levels! and no one judges you!
Danica @ It's Progression says
I love squats too…and yes, I like to lift weights! I do 2-3 times a week, and it never fails to make me feel strong.

Kierston says
I’ve never tried cross fit…perhaps one day! 🙂
Lindsey says
I tried CrossFit for the first time yesterday. OMG. Intense but so very gratifying. So I’m reading your post with awe! I can’t imagine having the strength/endurance to go that many times a week or do that well! Guess I’ll just have to keep working on it!!
Lindsay says
keep at it girl! it does get easier. when i first started i could only go twice a week because i was literally too sore to move for 3 days afterwards!
Lisa @ RunWiki says
You are a stud. I’m always inspired by your workouts, your food, your writing, you’re such a hard worker, that’s a quality that I really admire and respect in people. Have a great weekend love! xoxo
Lindsay says
awww thanks lady! you’re the best!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
You are rocking out the Crossfit! I tried it once, but found I really like spending time in the gym lifting. Is that weird? LOL! My favorite is anything that focuses on biceps.
Lindsay says
haha not weird at all 🙂
Megan says
These work outs look killer! I have been WODing a few times a week now between running and my body is so sore! I love it though!
Lindsay says
awesome! being sore is THE BEST!
Avery @ Southern Belle Living Well says
I do love the mindset that comes with Crossfit too. Something about the somewhat noncompetitiveness, mixed with a roomful of support. It seems like such an empowering sport!
Lindsay says
exactly! that’s what i love about it too! no judgement!
Sara @ fitcupcaker says
Im getting ready to hit up crossfit myself!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I haven’t tried CrossFit (it’s a goal for 2013) but I do LOVE strength training. It was something that used to intimidate me and I’d often avoid but in the last year I’ve learned to love every moment of it and really see some of the greatest changes in my body since I started.
Lindsay says
agreed! lifting weights produces results! hope you get to try crossfit soon!
Madeline @ Food Fitness and Family says
GREAT week in workouts girl. Seriously. WOW.
Sarah @ Mid 20's & Counting says

I wish that I could find a Crossfit near me but I honestly don’t think there are any close enough! All of my blogger friends make it seem like they are right around the corner.
Lindsay says
ours is quite literally right around the corner and it’s so nice…but you’re right. we didn’t join until one opened super close to us, otherwise i know i’d never go!
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
I love that you are loving crossfit! It’s very inspiring… I keep saying I’ll look into the local one here, but haven’t yet. I didn’t want to combine it with marathon training, but now that the end is in site, it’s time to get back to more weights!
Lindsay says
woohoo for weights! plus you rocked that marathon!!
Maureen says
CF is all the rage right now! I hope to try it soon, but right now I am ALL about TRX! 🙂

I wouldn’t say I LOVE lifting weights, but I do them because I know all the amazing benefits that they provide for my body. I love my squats. It works the whole body in one movement and I like that A LOT. Have a fabulous weekend!
Lindsay says
squats are my jam! love them!
Tamara says
What a great looking week of workouts! I am in awe of your snatches (sounds naughty, doesn’t it…).
My favourite lift? Learning to love front squats. So much harder than back squats (at least for me)
Lindsay says
ooh we just did front squats tonight! love them!
Sylvia @ Frolic Through Life says
Your recent Fitness Friday Posts have made me miss Crossfit so much! Can this semester be over so I can get my butt back in the box, please! Keep kicking butt! 🙂

AH! Makes me happy to see you embracing CrossFit!! I love KB work especialy single arm KB snatches b/c they are pretty technical. Also, love power cleans–really all the Olympic lifts! Great job Lindsay!
Lindsay says
someday i’ll be as strong as you!
julie says
This is big improvement in your part. For me I can’t really handle intense exercise. I prefer yoga which is also very relaxing.
Mary says
I know this post is a few days old, but I tried a crossfit workout and loved it! We did 21-15-9 of wall throws and burpees. I finished in 5:14, and funny thing was I was the the fastest one! I don’t think I’ll join, cus I don’t really have the money or time to go everyday, but I’ll probably go to the free Saturday ones some. I love lifting weights; I powerlifted in high school and haven’t been able to shake it.
Lindsay says
that’s awesome!!! it’s definitely expensive…but i’m glad you liked it! sounds like you rocked it!
