Hi Friends!
Let’s chat.
Hubby’s surgery went well. They did some cleanup on his rotator cuff and actually ended up also repairing his labrum, which was not part of the original plan, but that’s what he had his surgery on the other shoulder for. SO, hopefully between those two things, now all will be well. The good news is that they didn’t have to do anything to his bicep tendon, which is what we were most worried about.
He didn’t get a nerve block this time, since we had such a bad experience with it last time….so he was in a lot more pain after surgery, which meant we had to stay at the hospital longer while they gave him some IV drugs. But once we finally got home and got him started on his prescription meds, he’s doing much better today and the pain is under control. We head back to see the surgeon in a week and depending on how he’s recovering, he’ll be in the sling for 4-6 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed it’s only 4!

We sold our old couch. A couple months ago we bought a new couch and in a fit of impatience, I posted our old one on Craigslist a bit too early. The buyer ended up falling through, but then we almost waited to long to post it again. We got a call that our new one would be delivered yesterday, but we needed to have the old one out by Tuesday since that’s the last day hubby could help me move it. We didn’t have the same amount of interest when we posted it the second time and I was almost ready to just have a donation center come pick it up, but at the last minute- literally like 8pm Tuesday night, a couple said they would take it and could come get it that night.
So, out with the old and in with the new!
We’re getting a smaller coffee table and a side table to fill that corner so it will look more complete once we have those!

Anyone else watching? Hubby and I are so excited Season 2 is here. We didn’t watch right away so we could save for surgery recovery viewing so we started watching last night! (No spoilers)

Random thought:
I wish my belly button didn’t have to pop out. It hasn’t yet, but it’s getting less deep and I know it’s coming. I don’t really have a good reason…just never been a huge fan of outie belly buttons.
That’s all for today, friends! Happy weekend.
Enjoy!

That’s the SAME exact couch my parents used to have! We got rid of it about 2 years ago. I did like it though.
Christine @ Love, Life, Surf says
I’m glad to hear that your hubby is doing well after surgery. Being in a sling is no fun! Fingers crossed that it’s only 4 weeks. And LOVE the story behind Define Bottles!
Lauren says
Glad the surgery went well 🙂
Those bottles look like a fab idea!
Happy Friday 🙂
Arman @ thebigmansworld says
Okay, those couches were perfectly timed to be sat upon post surgery…smart bean!
I am going to start on OITNB. It is getting huge hype here!
Lindsay says
mr. bean is napping on one right now. hope you like the show!
Katie says
My belly button never popped, so maybe yours won’t either!
My son is 4.5 months old and he has slept in a graco baby swing from the beginning. Someday, we’ll transition to a crib, but he sleeps SO WELL that I don’t want to mess with it.
Lindsay says
oooh interesting on the belly button!
Kim @ FITsique says
I’m glad the surgery went well! I just couldn’t get in to OITNB! I watched a few episodes of the first season and it never really stuck with me. Maybe I should have powered through!?
Lindsay says
might not be for everyone. but we enjoy it 🙂
lindsay says
i want a cocoon for myself! haha happy healing to the hubby.
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers says
Yah, I’m glad the hubby is doing well. I saved $ by skipping the bassinet. We bought a pack-n-play that we kept next to our bed for the first month or so. Even though my boy is big now, we can still use it for trips or his overnights at grandma’s.
Lindsay says
nice! thanks for the tip!
Amelia @i_heart_kale says
Hoping hubby’s recovery is much smoother than last time. 🙂
I need to get a pregnancy pillow too. My body pillow is just becoming weird.
I’ve never seen that kind of cocoon, sing thing. I don’t think it’s really our style…can’t see enclosing my child in it. Anyway, our plan is to have this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GY8J8H8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3AJKIAO212JO5&coliid=I2RB8X250SCIWK&psc=1
Next to our bed in our room. It can be converted from a newborn sleeper to pack n play plus has the changing table option already set too. My cousin, who just had twins, has theirs right next to her side of the bed so that she can easily grab a baby, feed, change, and repeat.

Lindsay says
will definitely check it out, thanks!
Lauren at Keep It Sweet says
1) You need to get a pregnancy pillow… even if you don’t “need” it, it will change your life!
2) I actually really like OITNB season 2 so much better than season 1 so far
Lindsay says
haha good to know on both counts 🙂
Caroline says
I’m part way through season 2 of OITNB and am really enjoying it!
Heather says
I think this season of Orange is the New Black is so much better than last! We’ve been watching about one episode a night!
Lindsay says
i didn’t like the first episode but got more into the second episode last night!

My belly button takes forever to pop. I am 31 weeks and it has not yet with baby #2. I think I was 34 or 35 weeks with my first. We had the bassinet and she loved it. The only problem was we didn’t really lay her down on a regular crib/pack n play until she was bigger and she was so used to moving all the time that it was a hard transition. We will use it again I think just more for naps and use a co sleeper for night time.
Lindsay says
good to know…thanks!!
Erica says
Glad hubs is doing well! I’m with you on the anti-outie 😉
Cori says
So glad the surgery went well. We are watching OITNB… feel free to email me to discuss 🙂
Lindsay says
haha maybe i will. we watched 2 episodes last night. didn’t like the first one but the second was better.
Lisa @ RunWiki says
I am so sorry Mr. Bean had to go through round two of surgery, but glad he had it done before Little Bean arrives. I am currently on episode 6 of Orange Is The New Black, it’s different than last season, but good. I have a few gripes about how they are presenting things, but I still keep watching, so they’re doing something right. I did use that bassinet — it helped sooth my son, who had multiple medical complications, so he was not a great sleeper.
Lindsay says
good to know! thanks friend.
Deanna Segrave-Daly (@tspbasil) says
Glad to hear Mr. Bean is on the mend. Just started watching OITNB Season 2 – trying to savor each episode vs. blowing thru all 13 but it’s so hard NOT to say, “I’ll just watch one more tonight.”
Lindsay says
we watched two episodes last night. was bored during the first one but like the second one more!
misszippy says
I love that water bottle and the story behind it. Very, very cool!
Glad your husband is on the mend–wishing him a speedy recovery.
They have come out with so many new, cool things since my kids were babies! Love the idea behind that cocoon.
Lindsay says
so do i! will be a tough choice to decide between all the options.
Paige @ Your Trainer Paige says
So glad to hear hubby is on the mend! You two are so darn cute together 🙂 I think an OTNB marathon is the perfect recovery plan 😉 xoxo
Amanda says
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your new couches. So perfect! I think I need them, too. HA
Lindsay says
thanks! we like them too!
Valerie Schucht says
we had the fisher price rock and play and it was awesome. I thought we were done with having kids (have 4), so I got rid of it. recently pg with number 5. so I am going to be buying a new rock and play.
Lindsay says
thanks for the tip!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Glad your husband’s surgery went well. I love the new couch, along with your accent pillows. I say rock that cute belly button! Mine stuck out throughout most of my pregnancy, and I ended up kind of loving it! Someone told me to put a band-aid over it if I didn’t want it sticking out. I never tried it, but it’s an idea for you! My bellybutton is still actually not the same and sticks out more than it did before my pregnancy. Oh well, totally worth it!
Lindsay says
haha funny how things change 🙂
Jill says
I vote times a million a rock n play. Literally our saving grace with sleep with our daughter. I refused to give in to all the gimmicks they have out there nowaways. Our parents did fine without them so why did I ?! I ended up giving into two… the rock n play and aden and anais swadlles. Our daughter was only 5″8 and didn’t fit in to a regular velcro swaddle so we used them a lonnnnnnnnnng time… now they make perfect napping blankets to cuddle with dont have to worry about suffocation!
Lindsay says
good to know, thanks!
Lauren @ From Everyday To Gourmet says
I’m not even remotely ashamed to say that I knocked out all of OITNB S2 last Saturday! I was so afraid of hearing spoilers, I just didn’t want to chance it!!
I love your new sofa – do you mind me asking where you found it? I am currently on The Great Couch Hunt and it looks very similar to what I’m wanting!
purelytwins says
so glad his surgery went well!! and so jealous of your new couch!! something I want to get, but one day. Right now Jax is all over it, and with a little one coming I just know there will be more messes.
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
I’m obsessed with the fruit infused water bottles they are great. There are a million things you can buy for a baby that you never thought of huh?!

My dad is having rotator cuff surgery next month and then in january for the other side. He’s going to drive my mom nuts! 😉
My belly button popped out and looked so ridiculous. But it happens and it’s only for a short time!

Hugs to hubby… and you!!! 🙂
I saw those water bottles at a show a year or more ago & met the kid & his mom!!!!

Wishing all the best to your hubby! I love when kids come up with great ideas. I’m all for early creativity!! I may have to buy some of those water bottles.
Linz @ Itz Linz says
this is the bassinet that we have and i love it Kolcraft® Cuddle N’ Care® 2-in-1 Bassinet & Incline Sleeper in Emerson – it has a light (great for middle of the night!), a vibration thing, and sounds/songs!
Lindsay says
awesome. thanks!
Lyndi says
Sending good vibes for a speedy recovery for the hubby!
I swore my belly button was going to pop, but thankfully mine never did. I had anxiety about it too. Hopefully yours won’t either!
Our little man slept in a pack’n play in our room for the first month, then we moved him to his own room and crib. A couple of the first nights at home he slept in a rock’n play, but he didn’t sleep sound or well until he moved into his own room.
Justin Kavanagh Fitnesss says
Good to see your husband is recovering well. You obviously had an impact on his recovery with all your health and fitness expertise.
Jenny says
Lucy slept in her own room from night one in a rock n play. She started sleeping 10-11 hrs straight by 8 weeks and we transitioned her to her crib around 3 months.
Lindsay says
awesome. good to know, thanks!
Val says
My belly button never popped- it just got very, very shallow. Our son slept in a variety of places for the first several weeks, including his bouncer and a Rock N Play. He started sleeping in his crib around 2 months old, but when he woke to nurse, I’d usually bring him to my bed to nurse him, and then put him in the RNP until the next nursing. Have a few options and don’t be dead set on your baby sleeping in one spot from the beginning, because he or she may prefer something else, and it’s all about just trying to get some sleep in the beginning. Don’t worry about the baby forming “bad habits” for the first 2 months. The RNP is also fantastic for when you’re going to be at someone else’s house while he needs to sleep or nap because it folds pretty flat.
Lindsay says
thanks for the tips!
Val says
Oh – and get a Halo Swaddle Sleep Sack! We had a variety of swaddles and also did swaddle blankets, and the Halo is the only one our son couldn’t bust out of. When he’d break a swaddle, he’d wake up. The first night we used that one, he slept through the night (at 2.5 months), and slept through almost every night after that until we had to stop using it (between 4-5 months). At that point, he hit his 4 month sleep regression, the night wakings began again with or without the swaddle.
Lindsay says
good to know! thanks!
