Hi Guys!
It’s Friday and man am I glad! I’ve been working HARD this week on a case study and presentation for my internship. Unfortunately, I’ve been working slightly less hard on my workouts so today’s Fitness Friday may be lacking some of its usual vigor.
But that’s ok! To kick it off, I have something fun to share with you guys! My girl Calee made me a new Fitness Friday logo!
Do you love it?! Very similar to the one from before but the colors match my blog and it has my url now! I LOVE it! Calee is a super talented graphic designer and she’s actually working on some super fun Foodie Penpals stuff for me to celebrate 1 year of Foodie Penpals coming up in September!!! So stay tuned for that….cough…t-shirts…cough!
So, let’s recap the workouts shall we?
Friday
I don’t know about where you live but it has been MISERABLY hot here. In addition, as you may or may not know…I have asthma. It doesn’t act up very often…the last time I had an attack, I was a sophomore in high school….but it DEFINITELY affects my breathing when it gets hot and i’m definitely in the group of people that are at increased risk when there’s an air quality alert. I can immediately tell when there is one as soon as I step outside, without even checking the weather or the news, because I can’t get a full breath of air, no matter how deeply I breathe. So, I had every intention of running on Friday, but as soon as I stepped outside, plans quickly changed and I settled for walking. It wasn’t pretty…but I covered 3 miles and then spent the rest of the day inside.
Saturday
It was even hotter than Friday. I didn’t workout 🙂
Sunday
If you’ve been reading for a while now, you know this is my all-time favorite workout. This is what I said when I shared this on instagram after I was done: Words can’t describe how much I love this workout! It’s WRECKS my legs every time but I love every minute of it! Just did it in my fastest time ever – 21:30 (with 10# dumbbells)!!! #fitfluential #proof #movemore
AND THEN, I went and played a volleyball tournament. Luckily we got a break in the heat and the weather was about 10 degrees cooler on Sunday than it was on Saturday. I went outside on Sunday morning and immediately tweeted that I never thought 90 degrees could feel so refreshingly cool!
The first team we were supposed to play didn’t show up, but after that round we played 3 matches and ended up winning the tournament!
Then I collapsed.
Monday
I was sore ALL OVER. Rest day.
Tuesday
Again with the heat and the air quality!! Ugh. Hubby and I headed out to workout. We ran one mile, then walked two more. Then hubby branched off to head home and get the sprinklers going while I powered through one more mile. I’ve been spending all day sitting around working lately so I’ve been taking some longer walks to get my steps in. Later that night we rode our bikes to trivia night!
Wednesday
It didn’t feel quite as hot to me, so when hubby got home we headed out for a walk with the dogs. Big mistake. It WAS hot. Too hot for them. Lesson learned. We won’t be walking them before 9 or 10pm anymore until Fall. After I dropped off the dogs and hubby to hydrate, I headed back out for another SLOW 1.75 miles.
Have I mentioned that it’s HOT?! I feel like a slug when I’m walking 🙂 But, my treadmill is broken and I don’t have a gym membership so I gotta get those steps in somehow! However, if it gets any hotter…I may turn into a mall walker!
Thursday
I decided to beat the heat and poor air quality by breaking up my run into 3 single mile runs instead trying to struggle with my breathing for 3 miles. To challenge myself, I pushed myself to run each mile faster than the last, with a quarter mile walk in between each one. It felt great!
So, next week I promise I’ll have some fun workouts to share with you guys. I have a few written down, I just have to muster the energy to try them out before I share them with you 🙂
What’s the best workout you’ve done lately?
Enjoy!

I LOVE the new logo! Very cute… I noticed the URL right away. 🙂
The best workout I did lately had to be one of the Bob Harper workouts on his site. It was a Crossfit-style and it was TOUGH!
Lindsay says
thanks!!! i’ve heard good things about his workouts!
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
I love your 100 workout! I had 2 really fun workouts this week – LoziLu women’s mud run and a fun beach run with my kids yesterday. Made me feel like a kid doing both of those. Fitness is FUN!!! 😉
Lindsay says
omg both sound amazing!! jealous!

Running in this heat is so awful! Hope you get your treadmill fixed soon. Having access to a gym has been my saving grace during the really hot weather this summer.
I think the best workout I’ve done lately was my long run last Sunday. I ran 16 miles with 10 miles at my marathon pace effort (could never run at my actual pace in this heat, but used my heart rate monitor to keep me at the right effort). I find the long runs with many miles at marathon pace to be really helpful in helping me prepare mentally and physically for my races.

I’ve been obsessed with any sort of Ballet fusion workout lately. Although, the boy and I just bought our first tennis rackets and we’ve been tearing it up on the courts!
lindsay says
these look fun to me!
p.s.
how cool is calee?!! so cool!
AmyC says
Great logo!
My best workout was a middle of the day hot-as-hell run. I stayed hydrated, kept my pace down, and finished feeling amazing! I usually wear myself out on hot runs 😉
Lindsay says
nice job!!

That is so exciting that your blog anniversary is coming up! And even more exciting that you’re making t-shirts to celebrate! 🙂
Stacie @ Snaps and Bits says
Lately all I can manage is a 3 mi hike with the dog in the woods (but yesterday I did it twice since he had more crazy energy late in the day!).
Next week I want to get lifting again! It’s been a while since I spent a few months dealing with a broken foot…
Lindsay says
oooh good luck! don’t push too hard!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I LOVE the new logo! Calee is so talented. 🙂
Your 100 leg workout is one of my favorites too! I’m not allowed to do this style workout on my new training plan, but I’ve still killed my legs. Best workout this week was Tuesdays leg workout – I leg pressed a LOT.
Lindsay says
get it girl!
Kierston says
I had an awesome back workout yesterday! Great logo 🙂
Linz @ Itz Linz says
Hey – there was no less vigor in this week’s Fitness Friday than usual! You’re were still up and moving and kicking butt!! Be proud, lady! 🙂

I tried last week’s 5 Min Med Ball Workout this week without the medicine ball. It was hard, but I was thrilled to complete it! I’m really enjoying the combination of cardio broken up with sets of strength building exercises (interval training?). It’s new to me and a lot more fun than spending 30 straight minutes of a cardio machine.
Cat @ Breakfast to Bed says
LOVE the new logo!
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables says
LOVE the new logo! Good job staying active in the heat. Be safe and stay cool friend! I’m coming through Ohio today… I’ll be thinking of you!!
Calee (@chimes) says
Yay! SUUPER glad you like it. 🙂 And way to be working out in the heat!
(ps I think the link goes to Laura’s blog instead of mine — no biggie — you didn’t actually have to mention me)
Calee (@chimes) says
and PS T-SHIRTS!!
Laury@TheFitnessDish says
The 100 workout is making me tired. I did ZWOW 23 or 26 which had me doing 100 burpees and 200 squats. I was so proud of myself. They broke it up though.
Its so hard to stay active in the heat! Great job getting er done!
Lindsay says
nice work!!! 100 burpees is killer no matter how split up they are 🙂
Paige @ Running Around Normal says
Cute logo! I love leg workouts – they’re my favorite by FAR.
It’s pretty brutal here too…but I think a couple weeks ago was worse – in the hundreds!
Have a great weekend, Lindsay 🙂
Jaren @ Kiwi Fit Blog says
Lovin the new logo!
Lisa says
Love the new logo, super cute! I want to try out your 100 workout! My fave workouts have been crossfit style, tabata, HIIT, or circuits. I love them all.
Alysia @ Slim Sanity says
the new logo looks great! so does that 100 leg workout!
Mary@FitandFed says
Wow, that 100 workout looks lethal. Good job staying active despite the heat and the air quality. Will you be jealous if I tell you that I just worked out in a nice, cool place? That’s one advantage of being a figure skater! This is the first year we’ve had a summer skating school for the adult skaters in my area, and we met today. The time is for it is not ideal–7 a.m. Sundays– but we are making it work. We’re loving the camaraderie, not to mention the two hours of exercise together (an hour of freestyle ice time, a half hour on-ice group class, and a half hour off-ice class with some jumping and exercises and some stretching).
Lindsay says
oooh yes, a cool place sounds heavenly 🙂
Elizabeth@ Food Ramblings says
I’m so impressed by your working out! I did go to the gym after a miserable day of traveling and felt so much better for it!!!
Molly Ritterbeck says
I must say I love the new logo and need someone to do some for me! I think it is great how you recap your entire week of fitness – I will have to try this leg workout!
Lindsay says
go for it! let me know what you think!
