Hi Friends!
It’s one of my favorite days of the month! Foodie Penpals reveal day!
This month I was lucky enough to receive my box from Jennie at The Messy Baker Blog! She sent me all sorts of fun goodies! Let’s take a look:
Always a good sign when you open a box and see something like that on top, right?! And let me tell you. It is YUMMY! And that granola? WIN! Chocolate and bananas are a great combo in my book!
In fact, see that tub? Freshly ground chocolate peanut butter. Which just so happens to be delicious in banana fro-yo! Plus a new flavor of Kind bar!
But the real show-stopper?
Homemade lemon bars. Holy yummmmmmm. You guys! SO GOOD!!!!! I savored them. She even has the recipe up on her blog in case you want to try them out! CLICK HERE for the recipe.
Thanks so much to Jennie for all of my delicious treats! And cheers to another successful month of FPP.
So, are you new around here? Perhaps wondering what the heck Foodie Penpals is?
Here are the details:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re interested in participating for September, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by September 4th as pairings will be emailed on September 5th!
*If you’re from somewhere besides the US, Canada or Europe and want to participate, send me an email and I’ll see if we get enough interest this month!

This was my first month as a Foodie PenPal and I have already signed up for the next go round. I don’t know what was more fun- picking out the goodies for my recipient or opening my surprises from Jody in Texas. She sent me some incredible Simply7 spicy chili pepper hummus chips, some delish freshly ground PB and some organic shelled sunflower seeds. All perfect for my eating habits! Thank you again Jody, and thank you Lindsay for your awesome idea and organization of this huge project!

The Student @ Food for Dissertating says
I would so love to do this! But I have one major anxiety about it–I live in a very expensive area and I worry that my partner would feel cheated with what I could send with $15. I have reverse sticker shock every time I travel (you mean I can buy ALL THIS for only THAT MUCH!). Anybody else in my boat? What do you do about it?
Lindsay says
i’ve only had one other person express concern about that and i’m not sure if she ended up participating or not. you could always include some homemade items/magazines you’ve already read, etc. when i include homemade things i don’t include those in the $15 limit. You can also explain your situation to your match. i think people understand that prices vary across the country.
