Today’s a very special day. It’s my first time participating in The Secret Recipe Club.
I first heard about SRC on Erica’s blog and it sounded like so much fun that I couldn’t wait to join. The concept is simple. Each month you’re assigned the blog of another member. You pick any recipe from their blog and make it (without telling them you’re making it) and then a whole group of members post their recipes on the same day!
I love getting the chance to make recipes from other bloggers, and I also love that the club lets you put your own spin on them!
For my first month, I was assigned Heather’s blog- Eggs, Cream and Honey. After browsing her site it was obvious that although she doesn’t post often, when she does it’s well worth the wait! The first recipe to really jump out at me was these Chewy Chunky Blondies. Quite honestly, I usually prefer blondies over brownies and I’m a big fan of chewy!
I followed the basic recipe to a “T” only really changing the mix-ins. Of course I saw this as the perfect excuse to use up a few more Reese’s I left out the coconut and walnuts, spread the dough into a 9×13 pan and then pressed whole Reese’s down into the dough. I topped it off with sprinkles of dark chocolate chips and butterscotch chips!
You can go ahead and just call me a genius
I shared these with some friends that came over for a drink, and dropped some off for my father-in-law to enjoy. They didn’t last long!
