This Salsa Yogurt Dressing is a simple combination of plain yogurt and salsa. It makes a great salad dressing and can also be used as a dip or marinade!
You guys, this dressing.
You need it in your life.
It isn’t so much a recipe….more just a thing you need to know about.
We made this to go on our taco salads when I was out in Cali and it was nothing new- I’d made the combo myself before…but ever since I’ve been back I can’t seem to get enough! It’s like finding a favorite purse in the back of your closet. You used to love it, then you forgot about it and now that you’ve found it again, you seem to love it even more!
I’ve made a batch for myself the past two weekends and so many of you got excited about it on Instagram that I decided that it needed a post all its own.
Plain yogurt + your favorite salsa = Salsa Yogurt Dressing!
Start with 3/4 cup plain yogurt and 1/4 cup salsa. Taste it and add more salsa if you want! You can use Greek or regular yogurt…Greek will just be a little bit thicker. I use whole milk plain yogurt.
I’ve also used this as a dip for veggies and a marinade for chicken and salmon!

ha, your analogy is too perfect. I used to do this a lot with light sour cream and salsa, but yogurt is the better choice 😉 I love it on taco salads but need to try it on other stuff. And you’re right, it does deserve a post of it’s own. 😉

This is definitely a need to know! So easy and so delicious!

Pinning this so that I can make it soon! I sometimes buy a yogurt-based Salsa dressing at the grocery store, but I bet this is much better and much cheaper!
Maryea {happy healthy mama} says
This is perfect for when I don’t have any homemade dressing on hand and need something super quick. Love it!

Love the red type sauce and creamy combo- last night I pureed cottage cheese and mixed it with marinara for a similar taste, I’ll have to try the salsa yogurt verson!

This is one of those recipes where I smack myself on the forehead and say, why didn’t I think of that?? But of course YOU did, because you are wonderful! 🙂

How funny! I literally just made a similar (but vegan) dressing over the weekend for some tacos. Great minds think a like I guess 😉

Yum! I need this! I used to mix salsa with sour cream as a dressing, not sure why I never thought of yogurt.

I always put salsa on my salad at Mexican restaurants! Why do I never do it at home? Awesome idea to mix it with yogurt instead of ranch!
Arman @ thebigmansworld says
Seriously, not even kidding you I’d eat it with a spoon.
Actually, please tell me Mr.Bean eats his cottage cheese with salsa mixed…Not going to lie, I do that and top toast!
Elizabeth Shaw says
I love doing this!! I have an obsession with mixing my yogurt with smoked chipotle pepper and then throwing in a few tablespoons of pico de gallo! Fiber filled and super yummy! Thanks for sharing.
Alison Phillips says
Okay I had greek yogurt in the fridge AND salsa, so I mixed it with some swiss chard and baby spinach, fresh greens and herbs, little slivers of carrots and some sweet peppers and it was so delicious, it had that little bit of extra kick not usually found on salads, and gives it a creamy goodness that feels like a sin. Also put sunflower seeds on it. Mmmm.

I was literally JUST telling my coworker that I used to do this in high school! Except instead of yogurt it was sour cream and instead of tacos it was microwaved frozen taquitos… Oh how my diet has changed in the past ten years.
Bre says
Thanks for the idea! I’ll definitely be using this on our next taco salad, and might even add it to our taco night. So easy!
Dani @ DaniCaliforniaCooks says
So easy! It’s like a sour cream/salsa mix, but healthier.
Erin @ The Spiffy Cookie says
Mind = blown. Easiest and best salad dressing/marinade ever! Imagine the other possibilities with similar condiments such as pesto.
Marisa says
Yumm. I would like to know if I use two spoonfuls of this at a time, how many servings roughly would this serve? 10? 20? Just trying to track my food and recipes for nutritional purposes.
Lindsay says
probably about 8 servings if you used about 2 tablespoonfuls each time
