My Favorite Family Recipes

Hi Friends!

Remember a couple weeks ago when I was doing my Best of the Bean recaps? Well, I left out a few of my favorites. But that was because I was saving them for a separate post! When I first started this blog, some of the first recipes I posted were family recipes. The ones passed down from my mom, grandma, mother-in-law, etc. The ones I make every.single.year at certain times, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. The ones that bring me back to childhood every time I make them. I have lots of happy memories making many of these recipes in the kitchen with my mom and grandma. And some I was lucky enough to experience when I met hubby and his family!

I wanted to reserve those for a special post of their own. And today’s the day! Here you go:

Family Recipes

Turkey Dumpling Soup
Grandma’s Jello
Mimi’s Cornbread
Cranberry Sauce
Carol’s Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas
Carol’s White Chicken Chili
Clam Spaghetti
Mom’s Curried Sweet Potato Soup
Graham Cracker Eclair Cake
Meg’s Cajun Meatloaf
Fish Chowder
Rhubarb Custard Bars

I also asked some of my Fitfluential friends to share

  1. I love how wholesome family recipes feel. They’re just so comforting!! And I’ve only ever tried cornbread once in my life, but really enjoyed it. Your recipe seems pretty simple, I’m thinking I might have to try it during the fall.
Just wanted to send a HUGE thanks your way for the banana blueberry “froyo” recipe yesterday. I made it today and nearly cried it was so excellently satisfying! :)

  3. Fun! I love family recipes. In my mom’s family, we have a lot of bakers, so there’s two recipes that stick out when someone says family recipes. The first is a prune bread (only made during Christmas), and a butter mochi recipe that’s always a crowd pleaser. Thanks for sharing your family recipes with us!

Family recipes are the best! They are perfected over so many years and by so many ‘recipe testers’ (I.e. Family members). I have several family favorites on my blog, with the most recent being the Oatmeal that my Dad makes Every. Single. Sunday. Ever since I was a little girl!

  26. So nice for your family that you’ve got all the significant family recipes not only written down but blogged– they’re important, and hard to reconstruct if no one’s kept a record of them. Out of the list here, I’d try the Irish Soda Bread– I used to have a good recipe for it, but lost it and haven’t been happy with the other recipes I’ve tried. Still on the hunt there…. love it with currants and demerara sugar sprinkled on top.
