I found lots of goodies for you this week! I love Built lunchbags because they’re super flexible and come in tons of bright, fun patterns! I especially love this one because it zips shut…and guess what?! They’re machine washable!
I love this one because it makes me laugh 🙂
And finally, I like this one because of how neatly it all clips together. Someone I used to work with had one of these and he loved it! It comes with a built in plate and a little container for sauce or dressing.
Moving on…In case you’re new to Lindsay’s Lunchbox, it’s a weekly feature on my blog where I post a few healthy lunch ideas. In addition, I ask readers to send me pics of things they ate for lunch this week. I compile them all into these posts, thus providing everyone reading with a one-stop shop for lunchtime inspiration! Here are this week’s ideas:
1) Homemade granola bars
I love granola bars and over the past year or so I’ve made dozens of batches, each one a little different. I’m still on the quest to make the perfect batch. Usually mine have some combination of oats, sliced almonds, wheat germ, cranberries, raisins, chocolate chips, peanut butter and honey….then then i’m experimenting with the rest. I added some applesauce this week which made them a bit to chewy for me. I prefer crunchy. Anyways, the point is it’s super easy to make your own homemade version. Who needs store bought?
2. Leftover Pizza
Homemade, please! Make yourself a nice pizza pie for dinner and throw the leftovers in your lunchbox. I love homemade pizza because you can control how much salt is in the sauce, how much sauce you put on and how much cheese you put on! You can also add a ton of toppings for a lot cheaper. One of the very first posts I ever did on this blog was about homemade pizza! This time, the hubby enjoyed bacon and avocado on his side, while i packed mine with black beans and veggies like spinach, peppers and onions!
3. Cheese & Homemade Crackers
Apparently this is the week of homemade suggestions. Better head to your kitchen! In case you missed my post earlier this week, I made Homemade Wheat Thins and they were DELICIOUS! They’re super easy and have a really short ingredient list. I packed some in my lunch with a slice of pepperjack cheese!
Lindsey @ Lovin’ My Life sent me a picture of her Asian Chopped Salad! It included:
Red leafy lettuce
Toasted sesame seeds
Trader ming’s (found at trader joes) Gyoza dipping sauce
And carrots and English cucumber with trader joes cilantro and japaleno hummus
Kelli sent me a pic of the wrap she made with a whole wheat tortilla, Sabra Pine Nut Hummus, Lettuce, Tomato, Scallions, Green Pepper and Shredded Carrots. YUM!!

In other news, the boys got a special lunch treat this week when they enjoyed a “hot dog” that we bought for them over the weekend at the Home and Garden show!
As usual, Tucker made a mess, but he licked up every last crumb!
In case you didn’t know, we recently started leaving our dogs out of their cages while we’re gone during the day, after Tucker figured out how to undo both of the latches on his cage…So far they’ve been very good. Although one of them did decide to munch on one of the cat bowls…
I’m looking at Abner…However, other than that, it appears all they do is run around for a bit, knock all the pillows off of the couch, mess up the rugs and then lay down and go to sleep (and they’re even getting better about that) so I guess I can’t complain.
