Hi Friends!
Over the weekend, the hubby and I did some pretty serious food shopping. It’d been a while since we’d been to the grocery store…plus we went to Costco…so I thought it’d be fun to show you guys what we bought!
Let’s start with Costco:
{A pineapple- it was the best price we’d seen in a while}
{Blueberries & Blackberries}
{12 red peppers- they have these 6/$6 – best price around by far!}
{Farro-$7 for a huge bag here, or $5 for a tiny bag at the grocery store}
{Plain, unsalted almonds- for granola, trail mix & snacking by the handful}
{Fingerling potatoes- the best for roasted potatoes}
{Garlic- I don’t always buy it in bulk but I’ve been using a lot lately}
{Cholula- hubby uses it on pretty much everything}
{All new to us- Popchips, Vegetarian burritos & Sweet Potato Fries}
{I’ve heard good things about all of them- can’t wait to try}
{Cat not included}
{Peanut butter- for the dogs}
{Plain Greek yogurt- for the Bean (Lindsay)}
{The yogurt is $5 per container- best price ever!}
Then we headed to the regular grocery store:
{Skim milk}
{Almond milk- recently started doing 1/2 almond-1/2 skim in my cereal}
{OJ- for the hubby & for my smoothies}
{Veggies: Peppers, sweet potatoes, baby bok choy, green beans}
{Fruit- pears, kiwis, oranges & avocados}
{Jazz apples- one of my fav, broccoli & carrots}
{Usually I buy baby carrots but this 3 lb bag was on sale for $1}
{Whole wheat bread, dried chickpeas & barley}
{Some LGF granola for my giveaway winner!}
{Frozen shrimp}
{Cheese- pepperjack for me, havarti for the hubby}
{wonton wrappers for potstickers- recipe soon!}
{Morningstar black bean burgers- a staple in our freezer}
{Curry paste- our fav kind}
{Soba noodles}
{90 sec brown rice}
{diced jalapenos for an upcoming recipe!}
{Eggs}
{Chobani- I mix 2 scoops of flavored into my bowl of plain}
{Plantains for our buffalo plantains experiment}
{Bananas}
{Discount bananas that I freeze & use for “fro yo”}
{Human snacks}
{Dog snacks}
{Cat snacks}
{Best part of the day- hubby snuck these into the cart 🙂 Love him}
So there ya have it! And yes, I’m fairly certain most people think we’re shopping for a family of 6, when in fact it’s just the two of us 🙂
Now, who’s coming over for dinner?!
Enjoy!

I’ll be over tonight! As long as we can have those Morningstar Black Bean Burgers (they aren’t vegan because of the egg whites, but the smell wafting from the microwave alone makes them worth it).
I love that you found farro…Mama Smart found a Costco-sized bag of quinoa, and one of this sprouted bean blend that I was working my way through at home. We also discovered persimmons (!) and Earthbound baby kales (!).
Those peppers are the best price right now. I can eat a whole bag by myself though. 🙂
Lindsay says
uh, right with ya on the peppers. i have the giant bag of quinoa also 🙂
Jordan @ food, sweat, and beers says
Oh wow, that is a MASSIVE haul. I LOVE that deal on the red peppers, I so rarely buy them unless they’re on mega sale but regularly buy green peppers (they’re my staple). Living alone, and traveling a lot lately, my grocery trips have been on the smaller side, but I can’t imagine getting ALL that food ever, most of it would go bad before I’d use it all!!
Lindsay says
haha….we’re big eaters, what can i say?! hope you’re feeling better!
Miranda @ Living One Bite at a Time says
Wow, what a haul! That deal on red peppers is AWESOME, I’m so jealous! Also, Jazz Apples are also my favorite – love them with peanut butter!!!
Lindsay says
they’re so good! and i haven’t seen them forever so i was pumped when they were back in stock!
Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health says
Haha I’m pretty sure that people will think Chris and I will look like we’re buying for a large family too. And that is so sweet of your husband to sneak in some flowers :). Looks like you got some great purchases!!
Tara Burner says
YUM
everything looks sooo good
I haven’t been to grocery this week or last
need to get out and get some food!
Lindsay says
i feel like that’s always happening to us! time flies!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
You bought so many of my favorite things – $6/6 red peppers is a great deal! I think you’ll love the Popchips and sweet potato fries! 😉
Lindsay says
we tried the popchips today and both loved them!!
Donna @ Life of a Happy Blonde says
Lol, i just bought those sweet potato fries and they are delicious!
I am with you on the shopping for 6 – i swear more of my budget goes to food then anything else but i LOVE getting groceries and since Whole Foods is an hour away we make a fun road trip out of it, yes yes – i get excited about road trips to grocery stores 🙂
Lindsay says
that’s my kinda road trip!
Kelly @ Laughter, Strength, and Food says
I need to come over! This is quite a shopping trip! I cannot believe that you got red pepper 6/$6 – that’s amazing!
P.S. I always put OJ in the smoothies, too! 🙂
Lindsay says
isn’t that the best deal ever?! so much cheaper than the grocery store.
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile says
I’m totally coming over! Yumm 😀
Lindsay says
weeeeeee! party time!
Bianca @ Confessions of a Chocoholic says
For some reason I love looking at other people’s grocery loot! I buy so much stuff too – and to think I live by myself – but it actually helps me save money because I end up cooking at home and not eating out all the time. We buy similar things too!
Lindsay says
eating at home is good!! bigger grocery trips but less money in the end!
Sarah K. @ The Pajama Chef says
goodness! everything looks great. we don’t have costco but we do have a sam’s, i’ll have to look for farro/other fun grains there. i usually just hit the produce and freezer sections there.
…and regarding the carrots… i used to be a baby carrot girl myself, but once i started buying fresh, i couldn’t stop because they taste (to me anyway) so much better- sweeter, fresher, not mushy. i just peel and cut a bunch up on sundays for the week. doesn’t take much time and it’s so much tastier and cheaper. i can get a 5 lb bag of organic carrots at sam’s for $2.97! so if you have time for that, definitely consider that option! 🙂
Charise says
I am with ya on the no-baby-carrots! They taste like chlorine to me, and it is so much cheaper and not much more work to buy the full size ones and prep yourself.
Lindsay says
oooh great tip! i just might have to start doing that!
sarah @ sarah learns says
wow, that’s a lot of food!! i’m jealous that your store has lgf granola! i STILL can’t find it around here. 🙁 wahhhh.
Lindsay says
oh no!!!! hope it comes to you soon!
Charise says
Thinking of making that big of a grocery haul makes me tired. 🙂 Those pop chips are seriously addicting, and $5 big tubs of Fage makes me want to get a Costco membership like, yesterday.
Lindsay says
you should definitely get one!
Heather Montgomery says
we buy a lot of the same things! I LOVE nice juicy blackberries. yum! and of course chobani!
Lindsay says
so does my hubby. his fav!
Angie @ Losing It and Loving It says
Ohh so many goodies!
We love Soba noodles and get them at World Market, can never find them anywhere else around here. Love red peppers, great deal you got there.
I’m hooked on Cholula too, so good!
Lindsay says
soba noodles are so good! i can find them a lot of places but it’s a little harder to find the no salt added kinds!
Lauren at Keep It Sweet says
I basically feel like I just looked at pictures of my own groceries:-)
Not sure if your Costco has it, but they make their own plain nonfat greek yogurt that is even LESS than their FAGE and just as good:-)
Lindsay says
omg, def gonna check that out! thanks for the tip!
Lauren @ Lawfully Wedded Wife says
Such a fun post, I love seeing what kinds of groceries people buy! You got a lot of great looking food! I’ll be over in a few hours! 😀
Lindsay says
i’ll be waiting!!!
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers says
Me! Pick me! You got so much good stuff.
Lindsay says
come visit!!
Rachel @ The Avid Appetite says
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who seriously stocks up at the store. We eat basically all of our meals at or from home, so I find it to be imperative to have a fully stocked fridge and pantry! Love all of your items!
Lindsay says
exactly! a lotta meals at home = a lot of groceries 🙂
Corrina in beautiful BC, Canada says
Wow you guys got alot of stuff!!! You will love the sweet potato fries. I’ve tried them all and those are by far the best!!!!
Lindsay says
we tried them the other night! so good!
Laura @ LauraLivesLife says

lindsay says

😉
Lindsay says
you may….only if we can come live with you!
Kaitlyn@TheTieDyeFiles says
Fun to get a glimpse into another shopping cart. I literally have not set foot into any section of the grocery store except the produce section in well over a month save the day I went with the boyfriend so he could do his shopping!
Lindsay says
i definitely spend the majority of my time in the produce section 🙂
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate says
Love the groceries!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Costco is a magical little place! I have yet to figure out to leave without spending at least $50 (and I live by myself)!
Lindsay says
haha, we have a similar problem 🙂
Keelie (SweatEqualsSuccess) says
YUM! I’m coming to your house for… breakfast… lunch… dinner… snack… 🙂
Lindsay says
yes please 🙂 it’ll be a party!
Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) says
I love when people do posts like these – it’s neat to see what everyone else buys at the store. Sort of like looking at people’s carts at the store… am I the only one who does that?…
Lindsay says
nope! i def do that too!
[email protected] says
Yum!!! You guys picked up some great eats! I love Cosco! We always stock up on the essentials there. It really does save you so much $$$
Lindsay says

Cute post linds! I love shopping and I almost love it as much as reading others shopping adventures! 🙂
Lindsay says

Tina @ Best Body Fitness says
Yum! Your groceries look a LOT like mine. So many favorites – Chobani, Love Grown, peanut butter, and of course the produce overhaul.
