Go Green Giveaway!

Some of you who have been reading The Bean for a while, may remember way back in September when I got my first set of reusable snack bags. I’d been coveting them on Etsy forever and could never bring myself to fork over the $15 to get them. Yes I am cheap. I finally wised up at realized exactly how many ziploc bags I would be saving by investing in these bags.

Have you ever really thought about how many ziploc bags you use? If you use two in you lunch every work day for a month that’s 40 bags! That’s 480 bags a year just in your lunch. On the other hand, most reusable bags cost $5-7. They can be reused every day. You can wash them. And quite frankly, they’re just plain awesome.

A few weeks ago I started looking for some more snack bags. I’m kind of addicted. I found a GREAT Etsy seller: Lizzy @ Bag It Conscious. Because I am a nerd, I like to read the “About” section of the sellers I buy from. Here’s part of Lizzy’s:

” Hi, my name is Lizzy. Welcome to my Etsy store where I will be selling handmade reusable sandwich and snack bags, lunch bags, totes, market bags, etc. Everything to replace, or at least reduce the use of plastic. Every little change we make in our lives towards helping the environment, goes a very long way. Teaching our kids alternatives is, in my humble opinion, the best way to turn things around.
Go green! Stop plastic.
Protect the environment: reuse, reduce, recycle and rejoice.”

I was immediately hooked! Then I started looking at her fabrics and I feel even deeper in love. I knew I wanted to order some and I had the HARDEST time choosing which ones I wanted!

I finally settled on two and placed my order. They came last week and I was SO EXCITED. They were wrapped up beautifully in the envelope! I placed my order Saturday night and Lizzy mailed my bags Monday morning!

The snack bags on her site cost $6.50 and the sandwich bags are $7.00. What I immediately liked about these snack bags compared to my other ones is that they’re just a little bit bigger! Perfect for people like me who routinely stuff them as full as possible because I eat a lot! Below you can see the two new bags I picked out on the left, and on the right, one of my old bags laid on top of one of the new ones (*note the bag on top was previously purchased and is not available through Bag It Conscious- I’m just showing it for size comparison)

I also liked that the apple bag is orange inside! That just makes it more fun. On both of the bags, the stitching is high quality and straight, the velcro is nice and sticky and the liner inside wipes clean easily!

Here’s the description you see when buying the bags:

“Bags are made of 100% cotton fabrics and lined with nylon waterproof and food-safe ripstop material. No seems exposed. Top closes with Velcro. To clean you can turn inside out to shake out or wipe with a damp cloth. Wash cold, line dry recommended.
Measures generous 4” x 6.5” Please note that the pattern placement may vary.”

I was so impressed by Lizzy’s store, beliefs and my transaction with her that I knew I wanted to spread the love to you guys!! I contacted Lizzy to see if she would be willing to do a giveaway for my readers. She agreed! She’ll be giving away a reusable sandwich bag to one lucky reader!!! And not to worry if you don’t win…she’s also generously agreed to provide a discount code good for 10% off your order, just for The Lean Green Bean readers :)
