Hi Friends!
Time for some Friday rambles.
This was in Hawaii 2 years ago.
I wish we were back there.
First things first: my parents are in town! It’s been a while since they’ve been here so they haven’t seen a lot of the house updates hubby has done. We don’t have much planned except some baby bean celebrations and a little shopping.
Speaking of house updates….there are some that we need done that are just not fun. Our chimney needs to be repaired…we need a new deck…we need new windows…our driveway needs to be repaired. All super boring stuff that just costs a lot of money. Booooooo.
From my best friend. So adorable.
So we will hit the 15 week mark this weekend. I’m getting excited for our 16 week appointment because I’m kinda neurotic and like to know that everything is going well with baby bean. Having to wait a month between appointments is hard for me. I’m still feeling sick…but (cross your fingers) I feel like maybe things are getting a little bit better. I’m hopeful that sometime in the next week or two I’ll feel better.
Random old pic.
I think pregnancy is giving me weird dreams. I have been having THE WEIRDEST dreams lately. Every single time I fall asleep. Some are scary…some are just bizarre.
On Wednesday we had someone come over to spray for bugs. When he left, he left the gate to our fence wide open. Consequently, these two went out on a little joy run. Let me tell you, there is nothing scarier than going to let the dogs inside and finding an empty backyard….especially since we live quite close to a very busy intersection. Luckily they came running back, just happy as can be, after I called them for about 5 minutes…but still scary.
On the cat front…this guy has been throwing up EVERYWHERE. He gets bad hairballs and it’s annoying. However, I’m not ashamed to say that sometimes I just let Abner eat the puke. Gross….but he likes gross things and it’s less mess to clean up. Tell me I’m not alone here?
A few weeks ago, hubby & I bought a new couch and loveseat for our family room. Last week, when we were getting ready for the garage sale, I went a little crazy wanting to clear stuff out. We were listing some of our bigger furniture items on Craigslist and I went ahead and listed the couch. It sold in 15 minutes. Our new couches don’t come until the first week of June.
I’m not quite sure what I was thinking. In any event, we were fully prepared to just pull a couple of chairs into our family room for the next 6 weeks, but then the people who wanted the couch ended up not being able to come get it last weekend because the wife got sick. So, the couch is still here…which is good, because now my parents have somewhere to sit…We’re not sure if they buyers still want it or not…but if we don’t hear from them, we’ll just re-list it towards the end of May and we’re sure it will sell.

That’s about all I can think of right now. Tell me something random from your life lately!
Enjoy!

Hope you have a great time with your parents while they’re in town! Sounds like you will be pretty busy with home improvement stuff but hang in there! Don’t forget to relax and make time for yourself!

Is it random that whenever you mention your parents i think….DUMBO? Best acronym ever.
The bizarre dreams must be trending. Some of the ones I’ve had recently…

I’ve actually done something similar to the couch situation. I listed something to sell that I didn’t know if I really wanted too…of course it was the first (and only) thing to sell. I’m glad I don’t regret it now though.

Oh goodness my puppies got out on Sunday for the first time EVER and I almost had a heart attack. We came home and came int he garage door which we never do, plus since it was nice out we left the big garage door open because we were going to be doing some yard work later. Well all of a sudden when we were making lunch we realized it was too quiet in the house and we had left the door from the garage to the house open and our dogs were enjoying some free time sprinting through the neighborhood. We luckily found them in a few minutes in someone’s backyard but it was awful!

Pregnancy can definitely cause some weird dreams! I hear you on house expenses- there’s always something that could be done! I want to redo our screened in porch and my husband wants to redo the garage (last owners turned it into an office with an old shag carpet and wood paneling, ha!) So we have to weigh our priorities. 🙂

Ugghhh I can only imagine how scary that would have been to realize the dogs were gone! If that happened with Atticus, I absolutely would have had a panic attack. And I have to admit, that’s one of the things I love about renting an apartment – if something needs to be repaired, we tell the landlords and they do it, lol.

I really hope you are finally feeling better asap! I’m still waiting for the magical energy burst everyone talks about…
My dreams have been out of control (and I already was a big dreamer). Last night was the first time, though, that I dreamt about the actual baby in real life. Kind of amazing but freaked me out at the same time.

Glad your dogs came back safely!
Ugh, I’ve been suffering from spring allergies lately. Especially when I go out for a run or bike ride. Breathing in all that pollen sets of a storm of sneezing, runny nose, and itchy throat for the rest of the day.

Craigslist can be awesome- or addicting as you saw 😉 Haha Glad the dogs came back! Our cat keeps trying to get the hairballs up but never can! So he just dry heaves all around. We’ve tried everything and nothing works. Can’t wait to hear how the 16 week appt goes! Praying you feel better!

Hopefully you will be feeling better soon. You may notice that you just get better at certain parts of the day or it is just less. I am 24 weeks (tomorrow) and had some spells up to about 16 weeks or so. They do get less for most people. Beware the dreams can get really weird and vivid.

LOL I don’t actually have any pets…but I’m with you on less mess haha! Something random in my life…hmm…I am currently egg obsessed and eat at least 2 a day. #cantstopwontstop

Laughed at you letting the dog eat the hairballs! Dogs will eat anything! My mom used to have a dog that would eat dog poop! totally gross! Animals are funny! Glad to hear you are starting to feel better. I was lucky…two pregnancies, no morning sickness, no heartburn and no labour…both were c-sections! Enjoy your weekend with your parents.

I have been having weird dreams lately too! They all have friends from high school I haven’t seen in at least 3 years haha and yes some are scary too!
Debbie @ Live from La Quinta says
So scary about the dogs. Years ago that happened to us and our dog got hit by a car. It drives me crazy when irresponsible people just don’t think and leave gates and doors open. I’m so happy that they just had a romp and are home safe and sound.
Tory @ tory of my life says
I laughed out loud at letting your dog eat the cat puke. Because it’s so gross, and definitely something I do! Happy to know I’m not the only one!
Garage Gyms says
Dogs eating furballs is gross lol. I know cats are nasty (I have.. more than one), but gotta clean it up, not let dogs eat it. Fun read other than that haha =p
Lisa G says
I totally agree with you on letting the dog eat the puke. When my dog pukes, I just let her clean up her own mess. Also, I can’t stop her from eating random things in the yard, like chicken poop!, grass, and catching bees and bugs. She loves that stuff.
Your weird dreams are hormonal. During pregnancy, mine used to make me wake up anxious they were so scary. Just another fun pregnancy thing to go with the morning sickness. You’ll forget all about that stuff, though, when your baby gets here. Love your blog!
Jenni @ Fitzala says
Our dogs like to eat horse poop, so it’s not that bad 🙂
That’s funny about your couch- and worked out nicely for your parents visit! When we moved from Seattle, we listed ours Craigslist and no one wanted it. My mom said she’d take it, so it was in the back of our pickup, waiting to be loaded in the moving van. When we walked out to get it, there was a lady sitting on it! She bought it from us on the spot…
Lisa @ RunWiki says
I had weird dreams when I was pregnant too! Lots of random stuff around here- never a dull moment. Let’s see, dead rat in the pool, Boston Bean is still recovering, I taught Art in my sons class today, and I got talked into a marathon at the end of May.

I would be terrified to find an empty backyard – I’m glad they ran back relatively quickly and were fine!

One trick you can try for your kitty is adding a little bit of pure pumpkin to his/her food. Adding the extra dose of fiber can help to push the hair through the digestive tract vs. up onto your floors. Brushing our long-haired kitty also seems to help a little- but you know how much they just LOVE to sit still and get bushed ::dripping with sarcasm:: Our vet also recommend some weird kind of fish-flavored lubricant (shudder) that you can put on their food to help flush the hair out with their poop, but to me that sounds gross and she enjoys the pumpkin every now and then.
